Introduction<\/h3>\n

Villa Fogli is a beautiful villa in the rolling foothills between Pisa and Lucca.\u00a0 It has been with the Fogli family for over ten generations; always passed on from mother to daughter.\u00a0 For centuries the Villa was the pulsating heart and production centre of a flourishing agricultural company.\u00a0 The memory of this wine and oil production is well-preserved at the Villa’s oil mill and wine cellars.<\/p>\n

Today the villa is a family home: Aldio <\/a>and Zambra <\/a>are apartments on the estate which are available for rent.\u00a0 They provide for a relaxing break in a pleasing environment with all comforts of a modern apartment.<\/p>\n

History<\/h3>\n

There is ample history and tradition in Valgraziosa (Gracious Valley) and even more in the Tuscan surroundings. The foundation of the property, according to Pisanorum Annales<\/em>, corrisponds to the house which the famous painter Giunta Pisano (1200-1260), possibly the most important and innovative italian painter of the pre-Giotto period, acquired closeby a winery and the Aldio creek.\u00a0 This is confirmed by La Storia di Calci<\/em> (1976) edited by Mario Martini.<\/p>\n

In the more recent past the Villa was the residence of Ing Carlo Fascetti (1896-1958), Managing Director of Unes (currently known as Enel energy company), husband to Viginia Fogli and grandfather of the current owner.\u00a0 Another famous owner was Admiral Checchi Murzi (1907-1973) commader of the Naval Accademy in Livorno and husband to Maria-Rosa Fascetti and father of the current owner.<\/p>\n

Modern Villa<\/h3>\n

The villa gardens feature some rare Camelias, antique Roses, and a protected Lebanese Cedar.\u00a0 Thanks to the vicinity of the Zambra creek the Villa used to be a water mill to produce virgin olive oil.<\/p>\n

Calci<\/h3>\n

Calci is strategically positioned between Pisa and Lucca with great access from Pisa airport to the heart of Tuscany (Firenze, Volterra, Siena) and key areas of the coast of Liguria (Cinque Terre, Genova, Carrara).\u00a0 The area is much loved by cyclists and hikers alike for access to the Monteserra foot hills.\u00a0 Unsurprisingly the area is called Valgraziosa (Gracious hills).<\/p>\n

We have recently completely refurbished the Villa to modern standards and look forward to visitors who enjoy great food, wine, fantastic weather, and a relaxing and cultural break.<\/p>\n
